Hello! Welcome to my little slice of the internet. In this place, I write about my thoughts and feelings on technology, security, current events, and reviews of things I care about. You might also see some work from my wife over at kelbythesea.com
Who am I?
I was born and raised here in the great pacific northwest. I’ve spent many of my younger years taking apart things and wondering how everything worked. While kids were outside, I and my friends were inside, spending our time gaming and hacking.
I went to college in Oregon, but after a year I decided that college wasn’t something I wanted to continue pursuing. I came back to Washington and started right into work. I started as a help desk agent at Boeing and worked my way up to working at Microsoft as a system engineer. Since then, I’ve worked in many roles, from network engineering to cloud engineering to land where I belong in Information Security.
Hobbies
Reading is a passion, and I have a giant stack of books next to my nightstand at all times. Growing up, gaming and hacking wasn’t great for my body in the long run, so to make up for that I spend three days a week going to the gym, lifting and running. In the summer me, and the wife kayak and hike. We both have a mutual love of traveling and intend to see the world.

My Personal Server and Network
Without giving too much opsec away below is a general outline of my personal network.
- 1 Supermicro GPU server running VM’s for Pi-holes – Also Runs Ai python programs
- Custom-built AMD controller that uses an HBA card to connect to a nimble storage shelve
- Network is a mix of Mirotik, tp-wifi, Juniper switches running through a fiber backbone. My network has changed constantly. It used to be Unifi and pfsense but due to the absolute explosion of unifi usage and thus a massive increase in cost and lower availability, I have moved on. I don’t miss it.
- A Dedicated Server in the USA running Plex
- A Dedicated Server in the USA running a Mastadon node
- 1 Dell server running a 1 Bitcoin Node, 1 Eth Staking Node
Eventually, I would like to collapse a lot of this stuff into a private cloud. The biggest issue stopping me from doing this is the wiring in my house. Many servers are spread out across the house due to amp limits in my garage. Once I get many more important house projects done, I’ll upgrade the garage power circuits and combine everything under Proxmox and Kubernetes.
Mastodon Server
I run a Mastadon User node. I am all for decentralization where it makes sense. With the twitter take over and increasing cloud centralization, I created a user node. You can find it here if you wish to join!
Cats!
No about me page can end without cats. We have two rescues, Noa, our cat rescued from Maui, and Angel our second cat rescued from Porto Rico.
